What is Galvanising?

Galvanising refers to the process of coating steel in a layer of zinc, which then acts as protection against corrosion. Galvanised products often have a dull grey look to them as this is the zinc reacting to the environment.

GALVANISING

Galvanising-Wall-Chart

Good design is critical for successful galvanising and the chart above highlights some of the critical aspects of design which will make the galvaniser’s life easier, your product better, and save you money.

If aesthetics are more important than corrosion protection, then the galvaniser must be consulted during the design process.

Hot-dip galvanising is the process of coating iron and steel with a layer of zinc by immersing it in a bath of molten zinc at 450°C. The result is a durable and inexpensive coating that protects the steel from corrosion.
